NOTES: Dircke was the 84th person buried with the Pall.
On 17 October 1699 on the "Polvly" and recorded at the Reformed Dutch
Church of Bergen (with banns published there 1 October 1699 and also 28
September 1699 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack) Reynier
married as his second wife HENDRICKIE BUYS, the widow of Cornelis
Verwey, who was a daughter of Jan Cornelis Buys and Eybetje Lubbertse.
Domine Bertholf performed the ceremony.
Reynier's name first appeared in an agreement dated 6 June 1660, between
him and the magistrates of Flatbush, Long Island, where he agrees to
teach school besides performing other duties. He was without doubt the
first schoolmaster of Flatbush. In 1663, he removed to Bergen, NJ. and
took the Oath of Allegiance to the English in November 1665. He joined
the Reformed Dutch Church of Bergen in 1664 where he held the office of
"Voorlezer" for 42 years. He was the 121st person buried with the Pall.
