Flatbush she mar. CORNELIS RUTGERS VAN BRUNT, of New Utrecht,
who had no birth or baptismal record, a son of Rutger Joosten
Van Brunt and Tryntje Claesen. Cornelis was a farmer and large
landowner in New Utrecht. He took the Oath of Allegiance in
1687 as a native there. On 18 Apr. 1718 he bought for £265 the
Pennoyer patent in Gravesend, L.I., having been a member of the
New York State Colonial Assembly from 1698 to 1717. His will
was dated 25 July 1748, probated 13 May 1754, and in it
provision was made for his seven surviving children.

prob. b. in New Utrecht in 1666.
3. JAN ADRIAENS BENNETT, had no birth or baptismal record and was
prob. b. abt. 1667 in New Utrecht. With banns published 6 June
1696 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Brooklyn he mar. FEMMETJE
RAPELJE, who was b. 5 Oct. 1676 at the (Brooklyn Ferry)
(according to her marriage record) and bap. 17 Oct. 1676 at the
Reformed Dutch Church of New York (wit.: Vrouwtie Gerrits and
Maria Wouters), a dau. of Jeronimus Rapelje and Annetje Teunise
Nyssen. Jan was recorded in the marriage record as having been
b. in New Utrecht and living in Gowanus and Femmetje was
recorded as living in Walebocht. Witnesses were his father
Arien Bennet and Jeronimus Rapelje the bride's father. Jan was
listed in the 1698 Census of Brooklyn with a wife, two children,
and one apprentice. By 11 Oct. 1705 he had removed to Flatbush
where he was described of that place in a deed for a right-of-
way for the inhabitants of Plunder's Neck, Newtown, NY. His
will was dated 30 Mar. 1722 and in it he describes himself as of
Flatbush and named his wife, who was executrix, and all of his
children.
4. ADRIAEN ADRIAENS BENNETT, had no birth or baptismal record and
was prob. b. about 1670 in New Utrecht. He mar. as his first
wife BARBARA VONK, who had no birth or baptismal record and was
prob. a dau. of Cornelis Vonk and Magdalena (Rixe or Hendrixe)
of Flatbush. Barbara died bet. 1725 and 1731. He poss. mar as
his second wife CATHERINE (__). Adriaen was listed as an Elder
of the Reformed Dutch Church of Six-Mile-Run in Somerset Co.,
NJ. "Aurie" Bennet and his wife Barbara, marked "Removed," were
listed as memebers of the Reformed Dutch Church of Freehold-
Middletown prob. at its organization abt. 1709. Adriaen prob.
died intestate in Brooklyn in 1731. Letters of Administration
were granted there on 2 Nov. 1731 to Catherine Bennet, widow.
5. MARIA ADRIAENS BENNETT, had no birth or baptismal record and was
prob. b. abt. 1672 in New Utrecht. Abt. 1692 she mar. JACOB VAN
DOORN, who was bap. 21 Oct. 1668 at the Reformed Dutch Church of
New York (wit.: Ide Van Vorst, Adriaen Vi(__), and Hilletie
Jans), a son of Christian Pieterszen and Tryntje Shubber. Abt.
1705 Jacob and his family moved to near Hillsdale, Monmouth Co.,
NJ, where in his will, dated 24 Apr. 1719, and proved 21 Mar.
1720, he named his wife and all of his children.
6. JACOB ADRIAENS BENNETT, had no birth or baptismal record and was
prob. b. abt. 1674 in New Utrecht. He mar. BARBARA VERDON, who
was bap. 28 Mar. 1680 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Flatbush
(wit.: Thos. Verdon and Dirkje), a dau. of Jacob Verdon and
Femmetje Willems Westervelt. On 2 Jan. 1708 Jacob bought from
his brother Abraham what was later known as the Schermerhorn
farm. In the Brooklyn Census of 1698 he was listed with only a
wife and no children. Barbara was deceased by 1740. In his
will dated 30 Apr. 1740, and proved 17 Mar. 1743, Jacob
bequeathed £100 to his father-in-law Jacob Verdon, or, if he were
then dead, the sum was to go to his children.
7. (poss.) CORNELIS BENNETT, had no birth or baptismal record, and,
if he existed at all, was b. about 1676 in New Utrecht.
8. ISAAC ADRIAENS BENNETT, had no birth or baptismal record and was
prob. b. about 1678 in New Utrecht. Abt. 1697 he mar. as his
first wife MAGDALENA (__), who may have been MAGDALENA JOOSTEN,
who was bap. 2 Nov. 1679 at the Reformed Dutch Church of
Flatbush (wit.: Wynant Petersen and wife, Janetie Aukes V.
Nuys), a dau. of Joost Franse and Geertruyd Auckersz Van Nuyse.
She died prior to 30 Sept. 1732, when Isaac and his wife SARAH
(__) stood as sponsors at the baptism of a child at the Reformed
Dutch Church in Bucks Co., PA. On 5 May 1701, Isaac Bennet and
wife Helena of Gowanus deeded to Michael Van der Koek of
Bedford, one half of a plantation and tract of woodland there,
and on 27 Feb. 1702/03, he and his wife Magdalena conveyed land
in Brooklyn to Cornelis van Wyck. Isaac and his family first
moved to the vicinity of New Brunswick, NJ, and abt. 1731 to
Bucks Co., PA, where he settled in Northampton Township. Family
tradition states that while Isaac and his wife were visiting
their son Isaac, the house was struck by lightning and both were
killed.
9. ABRAHAM ADRIAENS BENNETT, was bap. 28 Mar. 1680 at the Reformed
Dutch Church of Flatbush. Wit.: Tileman Jacobs V. den Niyen
and Gertrud V. Mullen. On 25 Dec. 1702 he mar. JANNETJE
VOLKERTSZEN, who had no birth or baptismal record and was b.
abt. 1682, a dau. of Volkert Volkertsen and Annetje Phillips.
On 2 Jan. 1708, Abraham and his wife Jannetje sold land in
Gowanus to his brother Jacob of New Utrecht for £600. He removed
to the vicinity of New Brunswick, NJ, and was listed as a Deacon
at the Reformed Dutch Church of Six-Mile-Run on 24 Oct. 1711.
Abraham was also a member of the 5th Company, Col. Thomas
Farmer's Regiment in 1715 in New Jersey.
10. ANGENIETJE ADRIAENS BENNETT, was bap. 3 Sept. 1682 and recorded
in both the Reformed Dutch Churches of Brooklyn and Flatbush.

11. ENGELTJE ADRIAENS BENNETT, was bap. 26 July 1685 at the Reformed
Dutch Church of New York. Wit.: Jan Willemszen Bennett and
Marritje Willems. Abt. 1710 she mar. JAN SUTPHEN, who was bap.
6 Feb. 1687 at the Reformed Dutch CHurch of Flatbush, a son of
Dirck Sutphen and Elizabeth Van Nuys. On 19 June 1713, he and
his wife became members of the Reformed Dutch CHurch of
Freehold-Middletown in Monmouth Co., NJ, and he was prob. the
John Sutphen who subscribed 14 sh. towards the erection of a new
building for the Old Tennent Meeting House on 16 Mar. 1750.
12. ANTJE ADRIAENS BENNETT, had no birth or baptismal record and was
prob. b. about 1687 in Gowanus. Abt. 1710 she mar. JACOB
SUTPHEN, who was bap. 20 Jan. 1684 at the Reformed Dutch Church
of Flatbush, a son of Dirck Sutphen and Elizabeth Van Nuys.
Jacob first moved to New Utrecht, LI, NY, where he was listed as
a Deacon in the Reformed Dutch Church there in 1713 and as an
Elder in 1715 and 1717. On 6 Dec. 1718, he purchased 333 acres
of land in "Wecougak," in Freehold Township, Monmouth Co., NJ,
to which he moved prior to 1721, when he and his wife were
listed as members of the Reformed Dutch Church of Freehold-
Middletown. The last reference to Jacob in the records occurred
on 29 Dec. 1749, when he sold 14 acres of his farm.

Notes: Johannes appeared on the assesment rolls of Brooklyn in 1676 and
1683. He bought land of Thomas Verdon and Simon Aersen De Hart for
£180. He also owned 50 morgens of land in Gowanus (which later
became the property of the Van Pelts) as per an inventory of his
estates.
Hendrick Thys Lanen Van Pelt was the widower of Annatje Tielmans.
He emigrated with his father to this country on the ship, Rosetree, in
Mar. 1663. His name was on the Assessment Lists of Brooklyn in 1676
and 1683, and he took the Oath of Allegiance there in 1687 as having
been in this country "21" years. On 7 Oct. 1690, Marritje, as widow
of Johannes Schaers, made an accounting and inventory of the latter's
estate. Hendrick died intestate prior to 7 Nov. 1693, when an
inventory was made of his estate.
On 19 Dec. 1677 Maria was admitted to the Reformed Dutch Church of
Brooklyn.

b. about 1665/66. He took the oath of allegiance in 1687. He
did not appear in the settlement of his father's estate on 7 May
1690 and was prob. dead by then.

prob. b. about 1667. On 22 Mar. 1686 at the Reformed Dutch
Church of Flatbush she mar. WOUTER TUNISSEN LANEN (VAN PELT), who
had no birth or baptismal record, a son of Teunis Jansen Lanen
Van Pelt and Grietje Jans. He emigrated with his father to this
country on the ship, Rosetree, in Mar. 1663. On 15 Sept, 1695 he
bought from Stoffel Jansen Schaers 40 acres of land in Gowanus
lying bet. the lands of Simon Aersen De Hart and those of Maritie,
widow of Thomas Van Dyck, fronting on the Bay. He was living in
New Utrecht when he took the oath of allegiance in 1687. In 1702
he bought lands in Millstone and about 1701 with others the
Harlington tract in Somerset Co., NJ. Wouter made his mark "W"
to documents. His will was dated 10 May 1728 and proved 29 Sept.
1744. They had 8 children.
3. CHRISTOFFEL JOHANNES SCHAERS, had no birth or baptismal record
and was prob. b. 1669/76. In 1695 he sold land in Gowanus to his
brother-in-law Wouter Van Pelt, and died unmar. In his will,
dated 15 May 1745, and proved 22 Dec. 1755, he left his estate
to be divided between his "loving cousins" or his Van Pelt half
nephews and nieces, including Grietje Bennet, wife of Jacob
Bergen of Staten Island, and dau. of his unrecorded niece Grietje
Van Pelt, the latter a dau. of Wouter.
4. AALTJE SCHAERS, was bap. 28 July 1678 at the Reformed Dutch
Church of Brooklyn. Wit.: Klaes Janse and Katarina Van der
Beeck. She mar. as her first husband BENJAMIN OLDYS. Prior to
1714 she mar. as her second husband JOHN STAFF. They had 9

NOTES: Dirck had no birth or baptismal record and was born in the 1640's in
Holland. He came to America about 1650, for on a list of those
swearing allegiance to the British Crown in 1687, it was recorded that
he had been in the province 37 years. He lived at Flatlands, and was a
member of the Dutch Reformed Church there, serving as deacon in 1682 and
elder in 1703. In June 1694 he and his wife conveyed their farm "in the
township of Amesford or fflacklands" to Hendrick Wyckoff, in exchange
for other lands there, and there after his name was seen in connection
with numerous land transfers. In 1701 he was described as "of the Bay",
when he was bondsman for John Aerson "of the Ferry" (Brooklyn). In the
census of 1698 his family ar Flatlands consisted of a man, a woman, and
7 children. In 1689 Derck was commissioned Ensign in the Kings County
military company, and in 1690 promoted to Captain, Commanding a foot
company in the Canada expedition of 1691. In 1704 he was styled
"fisherman", and he and others of Flatlands gave bonds to the Town of
Jamaica not to fish or hawk there. Aeltje survived Derck, who died
about January 1723/24 in Flatlands, Kings County, NY. The will of
"Derick Amertman", dated 20 September 1709 and proved 1 February 1723/24,
named his wife Aelkie and 10 children. His widow served as executrix.

took the oath of allegience when his father did in 1687. His
will, dated 25 Apr. 1738 and proved in New York City 19 Apr.
1745, mentioned his wife Maritie, and 10 children, in which he
states that all surviving children, except child Jannetje whom
he had by his second wife, were by this third wife. They had 10
children.
2. PAULUS AMERMAN, also referred to as POWEL AMBERMAN or EMBERMAN,
had no birth or baptismal record and was prob. b. abt. 1668/72 at
Flatlands. In the 1690's he mar. as his first wife ALIENA (__).
She died about 1698/99. On 1 Dec. 1699 at Greavesend, L.I. he
mar. as his second wife CORNELIA EMANS, who was a dau. of John
Emans and Sarah Jansen. On 22 Mar. 1696/97 he, then of
Flatlands, bought 60 acres in Flushing, adjoining the Jamaica
town line, and in the 1698 census of Flushing was listed as
Poulus Amarman, along with wife Aliena and dau. Aliena. In 1700
he was living in Gravesend, and by 1707 had settled in Jamaica,
where he stayed, serving as Town's Man in 1734. On 7 Dec. 1748,
he conveyed his property to son Derick, conditional upon the
latter's making certain payments to Paul's three daughters after
his death. Paulus died about 1748/57. Cornelia died about
1735/48. They had 6 children.
3. JAN AMERMAN, had no birth or baptismal record and was prob. b.
abt. 1674. He mar. SARA WYCKOFF, who was bap. 27 Feb. 1681 at
the Reformed Dutch Church of Flatbush, a dau. of Nicholas Wyckoff
and Sara Monfort. Jan lived at Flatlands, where he bought
property in 1704 and was Deacon in the church in 1711, and served
as Lieutenant in Capt. Terhunen's company of militia in 1715. In
1738 his household consisted of 4 males and 2 females, all over
ten years of age. Jan died 2 May 1757. Sara died after 1747.
His will, dated 1 Apr. 1747, and proved 9 Aug. 1758, named his
wife Sara and 5 children.
4. ALBERT AMERMAN, had no birth or baptismal record and was prob. b.
abt. 1676. About 1698/1704 he mar. as his first wife GEERTJE
(__) (poss. AUMUCK), by whom he had eight children. He prob.
mar. as his second wife FRANCES (__), by whom he had no children.
On 19 Apr. 1737 he was listed as a freeman of New York City, his
occupation being stated as "carman." Albert died aft 1737 in
Sourland, Somerset Co., NJ.
5. CATHARINA AMERMAN, was bap. 2 Apr. 1678 at the Reformed Dutch
Church of Brooklyn. Wit.: Jacob Verdon and Poulis Vanderbeek.
Her baptism was also recorded at the Reformed at the Reformed
Dutch Church of Flatbush (wit.: Jacob Verdon, Paulus Vander
Beeck, and Styntje). About 1700 she mar. HENDRICK GULICK, who
had no birth or baptimal record, a son of Jochem Gulick and
Jacomyntie Van Pelt. They had at least 1 child.
6. ANATIE AMERMAN, was bap. 30 Oct. 1681 at the Reformed Dutch
Church of Flatbush. Wit.: Wm. Davids and Helena Aardsch.
7. ISAAC AMERMAN, was bap. 2 Sept. 1683 at the Reformed Dutch Church
of Flatbush. Wit.: Jan Alberts Terhunen and Anetie Roelof
Schenck. In 1708 he mar. GRYTIE WYCKOFF. Isaac moved to Jamaica,
L.I. about 1720. Isaac died about July 1751.
8. GERBRECHT AMERMAN, was bap. 3 Apr. 1685 at the Reformed Dutch
Church of Flatbush. Wit.: Jan Aardz and Adriantje, w(ife). She
poss. mar. JACOBUS VAN NUYS and was living in 1752.
9. JACOBUS AMERMAN, had no birth or baptismal record and was prob.
b. abt. 1690. In 1712 he mar. MAGDALEENTJE JANSE. He was
living at Flatlands in 1738.
10. AELTJE AMERMAN, had no birth or baptismal record and was prob.

5. JEURIAEN BLANCK, was bap. 19 Apr. 1681. Wit.: Filt Smidt and
Annetie Blanck. A will of a Jeurian Blanck, dated 3 Apr. 1714,
in which he is described as a yoeman of New York City, was
declared fraudalent, he having been declared non compos mentis,
and the will was set aside. In it the testator mentioned his son
Casparus and left him one shilling and left everything else to
his daughter Mary Johnson, and made her his executrix.
