Notes: Twin of Thomas. She lived in Rye, NY. Jonathan was High sheriff of
Westchester Co, NY in 1714; Episcoal vestryman 1711-1738; Collector
for Rye 1716 and 1718; Surveyor of king's roads 1716; Justice of the
Peace at Rye 1720-1722; Surveyor for Rye 1725; and first one of a
committee for repairs of Episcopal Church 1725. In 1729 he granted
land to the 1st Presbyterian Society at Rye; gave deeds in 1718,
1720, and 1724; witnessed three deeds of David Haight in 1746; and
was on Episcopal Church records as late as 1752.
Children: 1. WILLIAM HAIGHT, had no birth or baptismal record and was b. bet.
1700 and 1710. He mar. MIRIAM (__) as is thought to have had
no children. He received deeds from his parents of property in
Rye, NY, in 1729 and 1730. William and Miriam sold land in 1736
and 1737, and he bought land in 1739. In Feb. 1762 he
registered the earmark formerly belonging to his father. He was
mentioned in his great uncle John Genung's will in 1767/68. He
removed to Phillipsburg, NY bet. 1765 and 1773. He appeared on
court records in 1776 and in 1785 he bought 133 acres of
confiscated land that he had formerly owned.
2. SARAH HAIGHT, had no birth or baptismal record. She mar. ABEL
HAYT, who was b. 27 Feb. 1705, a son of Daniel Hayt of Norwalk,
CT. Abel lived in Norwalk, CT, and Salem, Westchester Co., NY.
His father gave him land at Canoe Hill, Norwalk, CT, in 1746 and
1756. He had numerous deeds bet. 1737 and 1765. He removed to
Salem, NY, bet. 1765 and 1771. His will, dated 22 Apr. 1774 in
Ridgefield, CT, east of New Salem, and poroved 15 Aug. 1774,
mentioned his wife, brothers and sisters, but no children.
Sarah was mentioned in the will of her great uncle John Genung
in 1767/68, and in her husband's will in 1774.
3. CHARLES HAIGHT, was b. in Sept. 1711, prob. in Rye, NY. His
wife's name is unknown. He was a farmer near the Rye-Harrison
line. In 1736 he was mentioned in deed of William as his
"brother Charles Haight" and in 1739 bought land from William.
He was mentioned in the will of her great uncle John Genung in
1767/68. In 1746 and 1770 he was an Episcopal vestryman at Rye,
NY, an a Warden of the Episcopal Church at Bedford while living
in Newcastle in 1795. It is said that Charles Haight gave land
before the Revolution on which the Newcastle Episcopal Church
was built. His will was dated 14 May 1799 and proved 29 Oct.
1799.

Notes: The first record of Ichabod was 15 Oct. 1755 when at the settlement
of the estate of Reuben Winget of Morris Co., NJ, there was due from
brothers Genung of Hanover, NJ, Jeremy and Ichabot, 7 s. 6 d.
Children: 1. THOMAS GENUNG, was b. 7 Oct. 1726. On 12 Oct. 1748 he mar.
PHEBE WARD, who was b. 6 Oct. 1731. Thomas was a farmer and one
of the original members of the Presbyterian Church at Bottle
Hill (now Madison), NJ. He was executor of the will of David
Burnet, 1 Nov. 1766, and witness to the wills of Luke Carter, 6
Sept. 1770, and Nicholas Carter, 18 Oct. 1770. He appraised
property of David Cory of Hanover, 20 Mar. 1769. His will was
dated 19 Mar. 1785and proved at Morristown, NJ, 2 Apr. 1785.
Phebe died 18 May 1806.
2. PHEBE GENUNG, had no birth or baptismal record and was prob. b.
bef. 1743. She mar. DANIEL DICKERSON, who had no birth or
baptismal record and was b. abt. 1740, prob. in Elizabethport,
NJ. He was a farmer and a soldier in the French and Indian, and
Revolutionary Wars. He served as a private in the Eastern
Battalion, Morris County Militia; Sergeant in Capt. Isaac
Hasley's Company, same battalion; ensign in Capt. Josiah Hall's
Company, same battalion; and sergeant in Capt. Josiah Hall's
Company, same battalion, 1781. On 2 Sept. 1779 and in 1781 he
was assessed for the salary of Rev. Mr. Everitt of Rockaway
Church. Phebe was a member of the Rockaway Church in 1781.
Daniel's will was written 13 Jan. 1826. Phebe died in May 1821,
and both she and her husband were prob. buried in Rockaway, NJ.
3. JEREMIAH GENUNG, was b. in 1743. He mar. ABIGAIL PARROTT, who
was b. in 1763. Jeremiah was a farmer and lived in Morris Co.,
NJ, at or near Genungtown. He and his wife joined the
Presbyterian Church at Bottle Hill, NJ in 1816. Jeremiah died
13 Oct. 1823, and Abigail died 8 Aug. 1837.

and was later thrown into prison by the "Committee of
Westchester Co." He was captain on the loyalist side during the
Revolutionary War and was on the muster rolls of Loyalists in
Annapolis Co., Nova Scotia in June 1784.
