NOTES: Their marriage took place on the farm of the Director General.

Jean Genung, who name originally was Guenon (also rendered Guion) sailed
from Amsterdam 2 April 1657 in the ship Draetvat under the command of
Captain Beastevaer. He was listed as Jan Guion from Leyden, as as a
credit passanger, the price of the voyage being 36 florins. After a 6
week voyage he landed in Flushing, Long Island. He was a farmer and
land owner. On 26 September 1680 he petitioned for more land and
claimed to have lived there for over 20 years. On 29 September 1683, in
Flushing, he possessed: six upland acres, 2 horses, 3 cows, 3 - 2 year
olds, 3 swine, and 10 sheep. In a list of inhabitants of Flushing in
1698, John Genung and Margreta were he first named of the French
families and this is the first recorded use of the "new" family name.
At the time, there were three in the family and two negroes. His will
was dated 24 November 1703 at Flushing.

Notes: In 1683 John Field had in Flushing 5 acres, 2 cows, and 4 swine. He
also appeared in the 1686 patent of Flushing, but not thereafter in
Flushing until 1695, when he bought a thousand acres in Somerset
Co., NJ, from Benjamin and Ann Clarke of Piscataway. He had also
received a grant of land in New Jersey from Governor Andros. On 13
Feb. 1710/11 he was a Justice of the Peace in Pistacaway. John's
will, written in Pistacaway 11 Mar. 1725 and probated 22 July 1729,
did not name his wife, prob. deceased at that point, but did mention
his youngest daughter Charity Field; daughter Hannah Breece; and son
Jeremiah, who was also named executor.
Children: 1. JEREMIAH FIELD, was b. 17 May 1689 in Flushing, Queens Co., NY.
On 19 Feb. 1712/13 in Pistacaway, Middlesex Co., NJ, he mar.
as her second husband MARY VAN VECHTEN, the widow of Aldert Ten
Eyck, who was b. 8 Oct. 1687 in Raritan,, NJ, a dau. of Michael
Van Vechten and Martje Parker. Jeremiah died 10 Nov. 1746 in
Pistacaway.
2. HANNAH FIELD, was b. about 1690/95. About 1711/13 she mar.
HENDRICK BRIES.
3. JOHN FIELD, Jr. had no birth or baptismal record. His earmark
was entered at Pistacaway, Middlesex Co., NJ, on 1 Oct. 1704.
He was not mentioned in his father's will.
4. CHARITY FIELD, was b. 2 Feb. 1696/97 in Pistacaway, Middlesex
Co., NJ. She was unmarried in 1725 and mentioned in her
grandmother, Margaret Genung's will, in 1722.
5. SARAH FIELD, was b. 3 Mar. 1697/98 in Pistacaway, Middlesex Co.,
NJ.
