NOTES: On 18 July 1680 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Flatbush Hendrick
married married as his first wife ANNETJE SCHOLL, who was baptised
16 July 1664 at the Reformed Dutch Church of New York (wit.: Coenradt
ten Eyck and Grietie Provoost), a daughter of Pieter Jansen School and
Margaritje Provoost.
Banns for his first marriage were published 6 June 1680 at the Reformed
Dutch Church of Flatbush. He was recorded as "j.m. Uyt Gelderlt
woonende op Noortwyck" and Annetje was recorded as "j.d. woonenede op
Hempstede."
Hendrick arrived 12 February 1659, aged 9 years old, in America on board
the ship "de Trouw." He was a landowner in Noortwijck (Greenwich) and
Hempstead, NY. Adam Mott, Jr., sold to Hendrich Mandefell 50 acres in
the south woods at Hempstead, 18 March 1684, and Pieter Jansen Scoll,
"the 14th of next June" gave 50 adjoining acres to his beloved son-in-
law Hendrick Mandefell. Hendrick witnessed a deed of Robert Bedall,
Jr. at Hempstead, 7 April 1687. On 11 May 1695, having purchased the
Indian title to the same, Major Anthony Brockholst and Capt, Arent
Schuyler in behalf of themselves and their associates, Samuel Bayard,
George Ryerson, John Mead (his brother-in-law), Samual Berrie, David and
Hendrick Mandeville, obtained a patent for 5,500 acres of land from the
East Jersey proprietors at Pacquenac, or Pompton Plains, NJ. Hendrick's
will was written 4 August 1709.

1794. In it he provided for his wife to be maintained out of his
estate, and also to have "an old negro wench and negro, Tom;" son
James was to have the south half of a 17 acre lot between Capt.
Thos. Doremus and Martin Van Duyne's land, also 11 acres between
where he lived and the heirs of Abraham Jacobus, dec'd, and 15 acres
between Martin Van Duyne Thomas Doremus; son David was to have 30
acres where he currently lived on, also the north half of the 17
acre lot and 10 acres "whereon the sawmill stands as laid out by
Abraham Ryerson;" daughter Ann was to receive 25 acres during her
life where on Brant Jacobus, dec'd, formerly lived - after her
decease the land was to go tho her son Cornelius Bloom; sons
Cornelius, Abraham, and Nicholas received the remainder of lands in
Morris Co.; daughters Elizabeth (wife of Wm. Mandeville) and Eva
(wife of John Mandeville), received a 50 acre lot in Preakness,

Maritje Young. Hendrik was a justice of the peace, and resided
at the George Roome place on the lower end of the Plains.
Margaret received 50 acres of land in her father's will, dated
6 Feb. 1775. Henry acted as one of three executors to his
father-in-law's will. Henry died intestate. Margaret
Mandeville, Henry Mandeville, and Nicholas Mandeville were
appointed Administrators 3 Feb. 1794 with John Debow appointed
Fellowbondsman. An inventory amounting to £357 and 16 shillings
was made 16 Dec. 1793 by Isaac Haulenbeck and John Debow.

10. LEAH MANDEVILLE, was b. 18 Feb. 1739/40. On 14 Feb. 1757 she
mar. NICHOLAS KIP, who was b. 15 Sept. 1726 and bap. 23 Oct.
1726, a son of Cornelius Kip. Nicholas remained at the
Preakness homestead, and was the Elder called Nicausey Kip, who
at the age of 75 years took his seat in Classis as the first
representative of the Reformed Dutch Church of Preakness in that
capacity after its organization. Leah died 7 June 1802.
Nicholas died 3 Dec. 1808. His will was dated 30 Apr. 1808 and
probated 2 Feb. 1809.

the Ponds.

Notes: Leah was recorded at the time of her death as being aged 90 years,
1 month, and 1 day.
Gilles lived in Pompton Plains, NJ. At the time of his death he was
recorded as being aged 68 years, 6 months, and 18 days. The will
of Yelles Mandevel of Morris County, was dated 28 July 1774 and
proved 4 Oct. 1784. In it he bequeathed his wife Leah "1/3 of
moveable estate, while my widow, and my sons John and Henry to
support her;" son Henry to have the lot on which he lived, "except
that small tract between William and Anthony, which Anthony is to
have;" son William was to have the 20 acres on which he was living;
son John was to have "my old place, but Abraham must have 25¼
acres of that lying between Pieter and Henry, and also the lands
which my sons, Henry, Anthony, and William, have bought, each one to
have 5¼ acres;" son John was to have the house "where I dwell;"
his six sons were to have his timberland; daughter Lenah to have
£30; daughter Elizabeth to have £30; daughter Margaret to have £30,
after her mother's death; daughter Sitea was to have £30 after her
granmother's death. Executors were sons William and Abraham, who
were to also be trustees for his wife and children. Witnesses were
Yelles Bertholf , Robert Clark, and Abraham Bertholf.

at the Reformed Dutch Church of Second River. Wit.: Barent
Jacobus and Bettie Hers. With banns published 2 Dec. 1754 he
mar. RACHEL SPIER, who was b. 29 May 1736 in Pompton Plains,
Morris Co., NJ, and bap. 27 June 1736 at the Reformed Dutch
Church of Second River (wit.: Hendrick Spier and Annatje
Jeralemon), a dau. of Johannes Spier and Sara Wouterse. Both
were recorded at the time of their marriage as having been born
and then living in Pompton Plains.
2. MAGDALENA MANDEVILLE, was b. 14 Mar. 1732 and bap. 4 June 1732
at the Reformed Dutch Church of Acquackanonk. Wit.: Hendrik
Bruin and Margriet Lacomba. She was called Lena in her father's
will.
3. JOHANNES MANDEVILLE, was b. 18 June 1739. He mar. CLAASJE
MANDEVILLE, who was b. 15 Apr. 1742 and bap. 25 Apr. 1742 at the
Reformed Dutch Church of Pompton Plains (wit.: Gerrit Vreland
and Maretje Vreland), a dau. of Hendrick Mandeville and
Elizabeth Vreeland. Johannes died 28 May 1805 and Claasje died
25 Jan. 1831.
4. ELIZABETH MANDEVILLE, had no birth or baptismal record and was
b. abt. 1736. She died abt. 1820.
5. WILLIAM MANDEVILLE, had no birth or baptismal record and was b.
abt. 1738. Abt. 1758 he mar. ELIZABETH JACOBUS. William died
abt. 1818.
6. ANTHONY MANDEVILLE, mar. as his first wife WILLEMJE VAN HOUTEN;
and as his second wife MARGARET JONES.
7. MARGARET MANDEVILLE, had no birth or baptismal record and was b.
abt. 1743.
8. GILLES MANDEVILLE, was bap. 26 Jan. 1746 at the Reformed Dutch
Church of Pompton Plains. Wit.: Pieter Mandeveil and Lisabeth
Mandeviel. He mar. CHRISTINA (__). Gilles died 27 June 1812.

mar. ANTJE VAN WAGONER, who was b. 25 Feb. 1751. Abraham died
14 May 1823 and Antje died 10 Dec. 1821.
