NOTES:  They joined the Reformed Dutch Church of Second River on 18 October
	1728.  He was a deacon of that church in 29 May 1732, and was recorded
	as an Elder in 1735, 1739, 1743, and 1749.  He signed his name as
	Hendrick Bruyn, Sr., Churchmaster, on 2 April 1742.  His will, dated 24
	January 1745, and proved 14 March 1757, was signed by mark and witnessed
	by Jon. Sergeant (in whose handwriting it is written), Jacobus Vandicke,
	and Abraham Peir.  In it Hendrick gave his wife, Margaret Brown, use of
	all estate for life; to eldest son Hendrick Brown, "the House wherein I
	now live" with half his lands; to son John Brown, "the House in which he
	now lives," the other half of his lands, and all his smith's tools and
	utensils; to grandson Jacobus Brown, a heifer or colt at his choice.
	One-eigth of his personal estate was given to each of the following:
	son Hendrick Brown, son John Brown, eldest daughter Elizabeth Cadmus,
	daughter "Lao Manderville," daughter Saiche Kerstead, daughter Sauke
	Woutesse, and daughter Alche Sip; and one-sixteenth each to grandson
	Jacobes Brown and granddaughter Margret King.  Sons Hendrick and John to
	be executors.

		LEASEAR, of New York, a dau. of Benjamin Lazier and Dinah de
		Groot.  On 10 Mar. 1781 at the Reformed Dutch Church of
		Acquackanonk he prob. mar. as his second wife and as her second
		husband SALLY SMITH.  Jacobus was a carpenter and settled in
		New York City

		bap. 18 Oct. 1730 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Acquackanonk
		(wit.:  Helmerich R: Van Houten and Catryna van Gysen), a dau.
		of Rynier Van Giesen and Metje Vreeland.  Anthony died prior to
		17 Nov. 1765, when a child of Metje's by her second husband,
		Johannes Spier, was baptised.

	    2.  ISACK BRUYN, was b. 11 Sept. 1733 and bap. 16 Sept. 1733.  Wit.:
		Hendrick and Klaasie Van Giesen.  On 5 June 1754 in Trenton, NJ,
		he mar. FYTJE WILLIS.

	    3.  HENDRICK BRUYN, was b. 11 Aug. 1735 and bap. 31 Aug. 1735.
		Wit.:  Isaack van Giesen and Antie Van Giesen.  He mar. as her
		first husband MARITJE SPIER, who was prob. a dau. of Theunis
		Spier and Engeltje Cadmus.  Hendrick died 21 Feb. 1782.  Maritje
		mar. as her second husband Capt. H. Joralemon.

	    4.  HILLIGONT BRUYN, was bap. 11 Dec. 1737.  Wit.:  Hendrick Bruyn
		and Ariaentie Jeralemon.  On 14 Jan. 1757 at the Reformed Dutch
		Church of Second River she mar. HENDRICK FRANCISCO, who was b.
		1 Feb. 1732 and bap. 6 Feb. 1732 at the Reformed Dutch Church of
		Second River (wit.:  Pieter Egbertse and Margritie Stagg), a son
		of Abraham Francisco and Elisabeth Stagg.

	    5.  JOHANNES BRUYN, was b. 13 June 1740 and bap. 29 June 1740.
		Wit.:  Arie Cadmus and Elisabeth Bruyn.  On 26 Feb. 1767 at the
		Reformed Dutch Church of Second River he mar. CATHERINE
		DEVOISNEE (or DE VOSNEY).  Johannes was named a deacon of the
		Reformed Dutch Church of Second River, 31 Dec. 1786, and a
		trustee, 1790-1792.

	    6.  RYNIER BRUYN, had no birth or baptismal record and was b. abt.
		1742-1744.  He mar. MARYTJE JORALEMON, who was a dau. of Helemah
		Joralemon and Rachel Cadmus, of Newark Township, NJ.  Rynier
		died in Oct. 1798 in Newark Township.  The will of Reynier Brown
		of Newark Twp., proved 11 Oct. 1796, mentioned his wife Mary;
		daughters Hillegond and Rachel; brothers John and Isaac; the
		widow Elizabeth Brown and Nathaniel Canfield; and sons-in-law
		John King and Hendrick Jeralemon.

 Children:  1.  DINA KIERSTEDE, was b. 8 May 1731 prob. at Gansegat, Essex Co.,
		NJ, and bap. 30 May 1731 at the Reformed Dutch Church of
		Acquackanonk.  Wit.:  Abraham Hennion and Anna Kirstede.  In
		1752 (or prior to that) she mar. HENDRICK BUSH, JR., of
		Fairfield, Essex Co., NJ, who was bap. 7 Feb. 1725 at the
		Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack, a son of Hendrick Bush and
		Maritie Steeger.  The family resided in Horseneck, Essex Co.,
		NJ, where he owned a large farm.  His lands at Horseneck were
		confirmed by grant of Lord Stirling and others.  In his will,
		dated 9 Nov. 1790 and proved 27 June 1791, Hendrick left one
		third of his estate to his widow Dina and the remainder was
		divided equally between all of his children (unnamed).  Two
		sons, John and Aaron Bush, were named executors and the
		witnesses were Ozeas Goodrich, Aaron Kierstead, and Cornelius
		Bush.

	    2.  HENRY KIERSTEDE, had no birth or baptismal record and was prob.
		b. abt. 1733 in Gansegat, Essex Co., NJ.  Abt. 1755 he CATHERINE
		VAN HOUTEN.  He is prob. the Henry Kested who seved as a Private
		in the First Regiment of the Essex County Militia during the
		Revolutionary War.  Henry died intestate, prob. in 1798, as on
		7 May of that year James R. Jacobus was appointed administrator
		of his estate and John Kierstead, fellowbondsman.  The inventory
		of the estate amounted to £14, 2 shillings, and 11 pence, and
		was made by John Kierstead and Jacob Van Ness.

	    3.  HANS KIERSTEDE, was b. 23 July 1735 prob. at Gansegat, Essex
		Co., NJ, and bap. 10 Aug. 1735 at the Reformed Dutch Church of
		Second River.  Wit.:  Johannis Bruyn and Maria Kierstede.  He
		mar. RACHEL VAN HOUTEN.  As John Kierstead he conveyed lands in
		Fairfield, Essex Co., NJ, in the late 1700's to a neighbor Henry
		Van Droff.  He is likely the John Kierstead of Horseneck who
		rented lands there prior to Aug. 1784, as mentioned in the will
		of Harremanis Van Wagenen.  Also, he is thought to be the John
		Kester who served as a  Private in the First Regiment of the
		Essex County Militia and in the New Jersey State Troops during
		the Revolutionary War.  On 11 Oct. 1800, his son, John
		Kierstead, was appointed administrator of his estate, the
		fellowbondsman being John I. Riker and Matthias Bruen, all of
		Essex Co., NJ.  The inventory, amounting to $78.47, was made 13
		Oct. 1800 by Peter Vannels and John I. Riker.

	    4.  MARGRIETA KIERSTEDE, was b. 10 Dec. 1738 prob. at Gansegat,
		Essex Co., NJ, and bap. 25 Dec. 1738 at the Reformed Dutch
		Church of Second River.  Wit.:  Hendrik Bruyn, Jr., and Steyntie
		Bruyn.  In the late 1750's she mar. JACOB MOWERSON.  They lived
		in Acquackanonk Township.

            5.  LANAH KIERSTEDE, had no birth or baptismal record and was prob.
		b. abt. 1740 in Gansegat, Essex Co., NJ.  Abt. 1765 she mar.
		MICHAEL VAN DER COOK, who was b. in 1743, a son of Frans Van
		der Koeck and Lena Bruyn.  Michael was a farmer in Acquackanonk
		Township, NJ.

	    6.  AARON KIERSTEDE, was b. 3 Jan. 1742 prob. at Gansegat, Essex
		Co., NJ.  In 1767 in Caldwell, NJ, he mar. as his first wife
		LANNA COLYER.  He mar. as his second wife EUNICE BALDWIN, who
		was a dau. of Aaron Baldwin, of Newark, NJ.  Aaron resided on
		his farm in Horseneck, NJ, which adjoined that of John Gould and
		Christopher Sindle.  In a deed, dated 22 Feb. 1805, he conveyed
		lands in Caldwell, NJ, to Luke Parret (John Kierstead and
		Abraham Ryerson were the witnesses).  In his will, dated 17 Dec.
		1805 and proved 14 May 1806, as Aaron Kierster of Caldwell
		Township, NJ, he bequeathed property to his wife Eunice, "the
		lot of 12 acres whereon I now live, during her widowhood," and
		"after her decease or marriage the same to be divided between
		my 4 daughters, i.e., Elinor, Nancy, Peggy, and Elizabeth."
		Other property was left to his two sons, John A. and Henry A.
		Kierstead.  The executors were his sons and the witnesses Jacob
		P. Van Ness, Simeon Doremus, and Abraham Ryerson.

	    7.  JOHANNA KIERSTEDE, was b. 16 June 1748 and bap. 3 July 1748 at
		the Reformed Dutch Church of Second River.  Wit.:  Arien Cadmus
		and Lysbeth Bruyn.
