Just How Valid is the Data?

The information contained on these pages has been derived from a number of sources. More often than not, families have been reconstructed from baptismal records derived from a variety of Reformed Dutch Churches. Sometimes names are missed in the process because of gaps in the records. In those cases, other sources (usually other people's websites) are used to help fill in the gaps. Where possible this information is verified, but sometimes I can find no other source where this information is listed. Information on spouses of various family members are often derived from looking at the couple's children and using the Dutch practice of children naming to postulate the names of the spouse's parents. Then, when a set of parents (hopefully having a child of that name) is found, they are included in the information. Names marked as "prob." means that I feel quite confident that the information is correct but lack the necessary confirming piece of evident. Names marked as "poss." means one of two things: either the information is of a speculative but plausible nature, or I have found this information on a website and have not found any supporting evidence for it.

Please keep in mind that I am not a professional researcher - just an amateur family historian with a passion for genealogical research.
