The Real Story Behind the Name |
It seems pretty odd to have a cowboy theme to this website when in reality the majority of my known ancestors came from New York and New Jersey. Granted these were probably rootin-tootin places in their day, but they hardly evoke cowboy imagery. So why the Cowboy theme? Well, because I go by the name of Cowboy Johnny So, why are you called Cowboy Johnny? Well, I just sort of dubbed myself that name one day. I heard one time that a Chicago Sun newspaper article on the City of Columbus dubbed it "Cow Town." I thought that that was pretty funny and so took to calling the place that in my e-mail correspondances with friends. Soon the inhabitants of Cow Town were being lovingly referred to as "cows" (as in all the little cows are pretty excited to see my new home page). And, wanting to distinguish myself from the rest of the herd, I called myself "Cowboy Johnny", liked it, and the name stuck. And for the record - there *ARE* real cows in Columbus. So, that's my story and I'm sticking with it. I'm not really a cowboy, of course. I've only ever been up on a horse once
and darn near fell off and killed myself when he started trotting. I do own a
cowboy hat but it hasn't seen sunshine in over 15 years. The cowboy boots
I own give my feet blisters just thinking about them. And the furthest west
I've ever been is Chicago (rootin' tootin' town that it is).
