NOTES:  In 1682, Abraham was taxed in Midwout, Kings County, NY.  On 1 April
	1684 his wife was received into the Reformed Dutch Church of Bergen by
	Certificate from Midwout, and on 3 October 1696, was dismissed to the
	Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack.  In 1704, he built a stone house in
	Hackensack, Bergen County, NJ.

    Notes:  Margritie was a native of Philipsburgh, NY.  As David Abrams
	    Akerman he was made one of the Justices of the Quorum for Bergen
	    County, 1 Dec. 1739.  He was a farmer and settled at Paramus.
	    His will, dated 13 May 1760 and proved 25 Nov. 1760, mentioned
	    wife Margaret, oldest son Abraham, and five other children.  The
	    inventory was dated 18 Aug. 1760.  Son David died bef. probate.

		 prob. b. about 1708.  He mar. AELTJE MEYER.

	     2.  JOHANNES ACKERMAN, was bap. 21 Oct. 1711 at the Reformed Dutch
		 Church of Hackensack.  Wit.:  Mattys Hoppe and Hantie Jurcks.
		 On 19 Jan. 1739 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack
		 (with banns published there 30 Dec. 1738) he mar. RACHEL
		 ZABRISKIE.  He was recorded as having been b. in Hackensack;
		 she having been b. in Paramus, and both then living in Paramus.
		 He died without issue in Paramus, 1751.  His will, dated 9 Apr.
		 1751 and proved 20 Aug. 1751, mentioned his wife Rachel, four
		 brothers, two sisters, father David, and uncle Albartus
		 Terhune.

	     3.  GERRIT ACKERMAN, was bap. 21 Oct. 1711 at the Reformed Dutch
		 Church of Hackensack.  Wit.:  Gerrit Ackerman and Abigail
		 Ackermans.  By 1740 he mar. LENA VAN VOORHIS.  He died 1773/74
		 in Paramus.  His will, dated 14 Aug. 1773 and proved 28 Feb.
		 1774, mentioned wife Lena and eleven children, and also
		 provides keeping for his brother Laurens.

	     4.  JANNETIE ACKERMAN, had no birth or baptismal record and was
		 prob. b. abt. 1714.  On 22 Sept. 1732 at the Reformed Dutch
		 Church of Hackensack (with banns published there 5 Aug. 1732)
		 she mar. JACOBUS ALBERTSE VAN VOORHIS, who was a son of Albert
		 Stevense Van Voorhees and prob. Elena Van der Schure.  He was
		 recorded as having been born and then living in Hackensack, and
		 she as having been b. in Hackensack and then living in Paramus.

	     5.  DAVID ACKERMAN, had no birth or baptismal record and was prob.
		 b. abt. 1717.  On 6 July 1742 (with banns published 26 June
		 1742) at the Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack he mar. as his
		 first wife JANNETJE VANDER BEEK.  He was recorded as being born
		 in New Harlem and she in Paramus and both then living in
		 Paramus.  He mar. as his second wife ANNETJE TIBOUT, the widow
		 of Abraham Doremus, who was bap. 16 Dec. 1722 at the Reformed
		 Dutch Church of Hackensack (wit.:  Marta Reyerse and Sara, his
		 sister), a dau. of Pieter Tibout and Margarita Reyerse.

	     6.  LOUWRENS ACKERMAN, was bap. 8 Nov. 1724 at the Reformed Dutch
		 Church of Hackensack.  Wit.:  Louwerens Akkerman and Sara
		 Akkerman.  He was living in 1773, perhaps an invalid, as his
		 brother Gerrit's will provided for his keeping.

	     7.  ALTIE ACKERMAN, had no birth or baptismal record.  On 14 Jan.
		 1743 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack (with banns
		 entered in Paramus in 1742) she mar. HERMANUS VAN BLARCOM, who
		 was bap. 23 Oct. 1720 at the Reformed Dutch Church of
		 Hackensack (wit.:  Isack Van Gisse and Antie, his wife), a son
		 of Pieter Janse Van Blarcom and Jacomyntje Cornelis.  They were
		 recorded as both living in Paramus at the time of their
		 marriage.  After he became a Tory during the Revolutionary War,
		 155 acres of his land was confiscated.

		Hendrickse Hoppe.  Both were recorded as having been born in
		Hackensack and then living in Paramus.

	    2.  ABRAM ACKERMAN, was bap. 22 Jan. 1716.  Wit.:  Abram Ackerman
		and Aeltie, his wife.  On 26 Oct. 1764 he mar. as her second
		husband MARYTJE HOPPER, the widow of Andries J. Hopper, who was
		bap. 29 Sept. 1734 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack
		(wit.:  Jacobus Huysman and Antje Huysman), a dau. of Hendrick
		Hopper and Wyntje Housman.  He died 25 Oct. 1789.

	    3.  AALTIE ACKERMAN, was b. 18 May 1719 and bap. 24 May 1719 at the
		Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack.  Wit.:  Andries Hopper and
		Abigail, his wife.  On 26 Oct. 1739 at the Reformed Dutch Church
		of Hackensack (with banns published at Paramus) she mar. ALBERT
		C. ZABRISKIE, who was bap. 2 Sept. 1716 at the Reformed Dutch
		Church of Hackensack (wit.:  Jacob Zaboriscoo and Magtel Van der
		Linde), a son of Christiaan Zabriskie and Leah H. Hopper.  Both
		were recorded as having been born and living in Paramus at the

	    5.  ALBERT ACKERMAN, was b. 4 Sept. 1725 and bap. 14 Nov. 1725.
		Wit.:  Jurjen and Cornelia Westervelt.  On 17 June 1748 at the
		Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack (with banns entered at
		Paramus) he mar. RACHEL VAN WINKLE.  He was recorded as then
		living in Paramus and she as living in Acquackanonk at the time
		of their marriage.  He died 19 Oct. 1801 at Paramus.

		ELIZABETH KIP, who was b. at Polifly and bap. 31 Aug. 1718 at
		the Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack (wit.:  Gerrit Van Dien
		and Elisabeth Breyandt, wife of Egbert Ackermans), a dau. of
		Hendrick Kip and Geertje Van Dien.  John and his family lived in
		the old Paramus area east of the Saddle River.  The will of John
		Hopper of Herring Township, dated 29 Jan. 1782 and proved 4
		Sept. 1807, mentioned his wife Elizabeth, sons Andrew (eldest),
		Hendrick, Garrit, Abraham, Nicausie, and Jacob, and daughters
		Mary (wife of John Zabriskie), and Hannah (wife of Benjamin
		Zabriskie), children of deceased son John (Gartara and Mary),
		and children of deceased daughter Gartara (John Hooper, Garrit
		Hopper, Andrew Hopper, and Rachel (wife of Albert Voorhees).
		Executors were his sons Hendrick and Abraham Hopper.  Witnesses
		were Stephen Hopper, Andrew Hopper, and Hendrick Berry.

	    4.  AALTJE HOPPE, was b. at Paramus and bap. 11 Apr. 1714 at the
		Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack.  Wit.:  Arie Ackerman and
		Elisabeth Ackerman.  She mar. JAN J. ZABRISKIE, who was b. at
		Paramus and bap. 15 June 1710 at the Reformed Dutch Church of
		Hackesnsack (wit.: Jan Terhuyn and Elisabeth Bertholf), a son of
		Jacob Zabriskie and Antje Terhune.

	    5.  WILLEM A. HOPPE, was b. at Paramus and bap. 20 May 1716 at the
		Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack.  Wit.:  Pieter Gerritse Van
		Aalem and Trintie, his wife.  With banns published 22 Nov. 1740
		at the Reformed Dutch Church of Acquackanonk he mar. as his
		first wife ANTJE WESSELS, who was b. 24 Jan. 1724 and bap. 3
		Feb. 1724 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Acquackanonk (wit.:
		none), a dau. of Evert Wessels and Annatje Ryerson.  She died
		prior to 11 Dec. 1767, on which date a license was granted for
		Willem to mar. as his second wife ANTJE KIP, a spinster from
		Pompton, who was bap. 29 Sept. 1721 at the Reformed Dutch Church
		of Hackensack (wit.: Isack Van Gisse and Antie, his wife), a
		dau. of Cornelius Kip and Eva Berdan.  Willem was living at
		Paramus at the time of his first marriage but moved into Ramapo
		Valley near present Darlington, NJ.  The will of William Hoppe,
		of Ramepogh, Franklin Township, dated 19 Sept. 1777 and proved
		1 May 1780, mentioned his wife Antie; son Andries; son John,
		"plantation where he dwells, at Warwick"; sons Andries and
		Garret, "plantation where I live;" "Son, Garret, and my
		daughters, Marytje and Lena, to have their outset;" daughters -
		Abigail Hoppe, Jannnetje, Marytie, Leya, and Lena Hoppe.
		Executors were David Christie and John Vanalen.  Witnesses were
		William Jeinkens, Jacobus Bertholf, and Jacobus Bogert.

	    6.  MARYTJE HOPPE, was bap. 28 Sept. 1718 at the Reformed Dutch
		Church of Hackensack.  Wit.:  Gerrit Hendrickse Hoppe and
		Geertie Hendrickse Hoppe.  On 25 May 1739 at the Reformed Dutch
		Church of Hackensack (with banns published there 28 Apr. 1739)
		she mar. as her first husband ALBERT ZABRISKIE, who was b. 17
		Jan. 1708 at Paramus and bap. 1 Feb. 1708 at the Reformed Dutch
		Church of Hackensack (wit.:  Albert Zaborisco and Hendriktie Van
		Boskerk), a son of Jacob Zabriskie and Antje Terhune.  Albert
		died 17 Jan. 1753.  With license dated 8 July 1754 she mar. as
		her second husband JOHANNES BOGERT, who was b. 16 Feb. 1710 and
		bap. 12 Mar. 1710 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack
		(wit.:  Jan Clase Romeyn and Lammetie Bongaert), a son of
		Johannes Bogert and Maria Bertholf.  Marytje died prior to 28
		July 1782.

	    7.  GERRIT HOPPE, was b. in Paramus and bap. 22 May 1720 at the
		Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack.  Wit.:  Gerrit Abramse
		Ackerman and Jannetje Alberse, his wife.  On 4 Dec. 1741 he mar.
		as his first wife HENDRICKJE TERHUNE, who was bap. 21 June 1719
		at the Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack (wit.:  Abram Housman
		and Gerrebreght, his wife), a dau. of Stephen Terhune and Lydia
		Demarest.  He mar. as his second wife MARGRIETJE VAN BUSSEM.
		She died 25 June 1768, aged 31 years, and was buried in the
		Paramus Churchyard.  With license dated 5 Dec. 1770 he prob.
		mar. RACHEL DEMAREST, the widow of Paulus Martinse Poulise, who
		was b. 12 Aug. 1712 and bap. 24 Aug. 1712 at the Reformed Dutch
		Church of Hackensack (wit.:  Pieter Westervelt and Susanna, his
		wife), a dau. of Jacobus Demarest and Lea De Groot.  Gerrit died
		24 Apr. 1780 and was buried in the Paramus Churchyard.

	    8.  DAVIDT HOPPE, was b. in Paramus and bap. 3 Nov. 1723 at the
		Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack.  Wit.:  David Ackerman and
		Gritie, his wife.  He mar. RACHEL VAN EMBURGH, who was b. 28
		June 1733 and bap. 22 July 1733 at the Reformed Dutch Church of
		Second River (wit.:  Johannes Coejemans and Rachel Van Winkel),
		a dau. of Johannes Van Emburgh and Ariaentje Coeymans.  Gerrit
		lived in Franklin Township, on the west side of Saddle River.
		He fathered a child by Angentje Bogert, a dau. of John Bogart
		and Antje Westervelt, who later mar. David J. Ackerman.
		Gerrit's will was dated 29 Mar. 1805 and proved 25 Mar. 1806.

            9.  LEA HOPPE, was bap. 23 Apr. 1727 at the Reformed Dutch Church of
		Hackensack.  Wit.:  Christiaan Sabrisco and Lea Hoppe.  She mar.
		as her first husband HENDRICK H. ZABRISKI, who was b. in Paramus
		and bap. 8 Oct. 1721 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack
		(wit.:  Hendrik Hoppe and Maria, his wife), a son of Hendrick
		Zabriski and Geertje Hoppe.  She mar. as her second husband DIRK
		A. TERHUNE, who was bap. 14 Nov. 1725 at the Reformed Dutch
		Church of Hackensack (wit.:  Derk Terheun and Ariaantje
		Huysman), a son of Albert Terhune and Anna Maria Ackerman.  Dirk
		died prior to 1 May 1799, when Leah, the widow of Dirk Terhune,

	    of faith, 1 Apr. 1721.  He was a farmer at Paramus.  His will, dated
	    1 Aug. 1759, probated 19 Aug. 1761, and recorded 14 Dec. 1761,
	    described him as "Yoeman of Paramus, New Jersey," and in it he left
	    property and land to his wife Elizabeth, to his son Abraham (by his
	    first wife), to his sons William, David, Johannes, Gerrit, Petrus,
	    and Cornelius.  The executors were Abraham Lourens Ackerman and
	    Abraham Abrahamse Ackerman; the witnesses were Jacob Banta, Lena
	    Banta (by mark) and Robert Livesey.  Johannes signed it with his
	    mark.

 Children:  1.  MARIA ACKERMAN, was b. 18 Jan. 1722 and bap. 18 Mar. 1722 at the
		Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack.  Wit.:  None.  On 29 Sept.
		1742 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Schraalenburgh she mar.
		CORNELIUS DEMAREST, who was bap. 18 Mar. 1722 at the Reformed
		Dutch Church of Hackensack (wit.:  Samuel De Maree and his
		daughter, Rachel), a son of Samuel Samuelse Demarest and Annatie
		Van Hoorn.  Cornelius died 11 June 1813.  Maria died in Paramus
		18 Sept. 1803 and was buried in the Paramus Churchyard.

		the Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack.  Wit.:  Albertus Ter

	    9.  PETRUS ACKERMAN, was bap. 13 Feb. 1742 at the Reformed Dutch
		Church of Paramus.  Wit.:  Hendrick Laroe and Marytje Laroe.  He
		prob. mar. MARIA BOGART, who was b. 4 May 1751 and bap. 19 May
		1751 at the Reformed Dutch Church of Tappen (wit.:  Cornelis
		Vanhoren and Maria, his wife), a dau. of Petrus Bogart and
		Rachel Van Horn.  She was mentioned in her father's will, dated
		11 Oct. 1771, in which she received land bought by her father
		from Peter Mabie.  On 21 Dec. 1816 Mary joined the Reformed
		Dutch Church of Tappen.  Petrus died in 1813.  On 14 Dec. 1813,
		Letters Testamentary were granted on the estate of Peter
		Ackerman at Hackensack, New Jersey, to Mary Ackerman.  Mary, in
		her will dated 28 Feb. 1818 and proved 30 Mar. 1818, bequeathed
		an estate to her children and grandchildren, namely Rachel
		Blauvelt, Elizabeth Bayard, Polly Miller, Letty Ackerman, and
		grandchildren of her deceased son John.

	    1762, proved 3 Aug. 1762, and recorded 3 Nov. 1763.  It refers to
	    him as Abraham Ackerman of New Barbadoes and in it he left his wife
	    his whole estate and names also as his legates his sons Hendrick,
	    John, Abraham, and his daughters Rachel and Altje and Hendricktje,
	    the daughter of his son Abraham.  His wife was to have the copper
	    "Cittle" and furniture; Hendrick and Rachel the dwelling in which he
	    lives; John to have his large Dutch Bible.  Hendrick and Rachel were
	    to pay to Altie £30. Rachel was to get £16 when married for her
	    outset and Hendrick was to have "my gun which I call my Bullet Gun."
	    Also "my children Altje, John, Abraham, Hendrick, and Rachel to have
	    a large silverspoon.  Also Hendrickje, the daughter of my son
	    Abraham shall have one."  The executors were his friend Abraham
	    Lowrance Ackerman and Guilliame Bertholf; and the witnesses were
	    William Provoost, John Earle, and Morris Earle.
